Samsung Instinct HD
Give way to the slicker and more functional Samsung Instinct® HD. Sprint Nextel has released SPH-M850, more popularly known as Instinct HD, as an improvement from the Instinct S30. Customers will never get disappointed with the new features.
Of course Samsung Instinct® HD’s features are highlighted by its high definition capability. Hence, it gets the name “HD.” Video capturing supports up to 720p quality. However, an HD cable for external viewing of videos is not included in the package.
HD and S30 have the same dimensions of 4.6 by 2.3 by 0.5 inches. Compared with the predecessor, Instinct’s dimension has a slicker design. Its piano-black case has more rounded edges and an elegant silver trim. The matte finish of the rear is perfect for comfortable handling.
Besides the much hyped 720p capability, Samsung Instinct® HD makes a great multimedia phone. It still has S30’s 3.2 inch display—the minimum size for a touch control screen. However, the display is a lot brighter and it supports more than 16 million colors.
It has a complete QWERTY keyboard. With its horizontal orientation, the keys are large and comfortable enough. Since the model has an accelerometer, you can change the orientation by tipping the phone. Gesture controls allow call or alarm clock muting by facing the phone down.
As for the camera, it has a 5 megapixel resolution. It is equipped with LED flash, digital zoom and auto focus. At the rear is a mirror for self image capturing.
With its capabilities still leaning to the basics, Samsung Instinct® HD is not a “smart phone.” But still, it is packed with pleasant surprises. Instinct is Wi-Fi capable and is internet ready with the Opera 9.7 browser. The model is equipped with Bluetooth 2.1 and microUSB.
The phone book capacity is 600, somewhat small for a touch-screen phone but decent enough. Instinct HD is equipped with the basic organizer features: alarm clock, calculator, stopwatch, timer and notepad. It even has a world clock feature.
