Took the Fashion World by Storm
Founded In Arleta,California by Gela Nash-Taylor and Pamela Skaist-Levy, Juicy Couture is a contemporary collection of tasteful, light clothing and products. The brand began in 1994, when Nash-Taylor and Skaist-Levy decided to set out to define themselves with a new kind of fashion trademark from their homes in Pacoima, California. They aimed to design a line of fashions that could compete with other hot and popular designers and lines, but that were also affordable, so that they could be accessible to adult females like themselves.
Their trademark, 'Juicy Couture', featured a combination of fashions designed for adult women who often found themselves on-the-go and required clothing that was light as well as hip, leading them to their signature piece, the velour tracksuit. Nash-Taylor and Skaist-Levy didn't have a very easy beginning for their company and faced many difficulties. By 1996, they'd overcome these obstacles, established a solid company, and attracted the fashionable public to their line of Juicy Couture. Juicy Couture then began sending their designs to celebrities - most notably, Madonnna, who popularized their velour tracksuit with 'Madge' emblazoned on it, and helped the style catch on with other women.

While they don't embellish all of their clothes with the name 'Madge', this was the catalyst for their company to catch on with the rich and famous. At first, Juicy Couture was limited to Neiman Marcus and a few small boutiques, but by the year 2000, Juicy Couture has started to set up specialty shops just for their own products, and by 2004, their signature velour tracksuit was again the focus of their fashion lines and launching them to even greater international popularity. Today, even during the economic downturn, Juicy Couture continues to flourish.
They've expanded their fashion line to encompass cosmetics, purses, children's and men's clothing, and other accessories. Juicy Couture was sold to Liz Claiborne, who has sold over $258 million worth of Juicy Couture items.
